Synopsis
Spanning the 20th century, the story of Roses takes place in a small East Texas town against the backdrop of the powerful timber and cotton industries, industries controlled by the scions of the town's founding families. Cotton tycoon Mary Toliver and timber magnate Percy Warwick should have married but unwisely did not, and now must deal with the deceit, secrets, and tragedies of their choice and the loss of what might have been--not just for themselves but for their children, and children's children. With expert, unabashed, big-canvas storytelling, Roses covers a hundred years, three generations of Texans and the explosive combination of passion for work and longing for love.

My Local LNS

I am one of the lucky ones,,that have a decent size Local Needlework Store close to them,,and here I thought it was alot farther away from me then it was,,when we first moved down here and was still living in a hotel..we drove around looking for it and it seemed like it was at least an hour away from us..so I never wanted to go to it,,until last friday..when I set out to find it,,and low and behold it is only half an hour away from my house,,I was in total awe,,I couldnt believe it was that close..I was so excited to have not only a needlework store but a yarn store in the it to..and boy they got all the yummy yarns..I was talking to one of the girls today,,and she said they have been there for 30 years and have had only 2 owners and she thinks why they have lasted so long is that they have a combination of cross stitch, needlepoint, knitting and crochet..and so it seems it might be around for a very long time..well I did get some more goodies some week dye threads and a Little House Needlework pattern,,if I didnt have so many knitting and crocheting projects going already I would have picked up some of their yummy yarn..well here are some pictures to enjoy,,if you are ever in Jacksonville Florida you can stop by and visit them at A Stitch In Time..

Happy Monday...

Well it has started off to be a good day so far..my grandson has been in a good mood all day,,we went over to the neighbors house who is watching a couple of extra kids and he played for a couple of hours and now he is sound asleep..we have had a rough couple of days last week,,so I am praying that this week will go better..and I know it is the age..2yr olds can be trying at times..I have been crocheting,,I started another ripple..One for my grandson Anthony who lives in Arizona,,his birthday is next month and his mom requested I make one with cowboy colors(not the football team)so this is what I came up with..brown,beige,brick red,l blue,blue..

I have only done a couple more rows on my multi color one

,,I have been reading still and finish my Karen Marie Moning book which was another good one..and have started The French Gardener by Santa Monteriore, I am really liking it so far..
Synopsis A neglected garden. A cottage that holds a secret. A mysterious Frenchman (handsome, naturally). A family in need of some love. These elements are entwined in this heartwarming novel by the author reviewers consistently compare to Maeve Binchy and Rosamunde Pilcher. It begins as Miranda and David Claybourne move into a country house with a once-beautiful garden. But reality turns out to be very different from their dream. Soon the latent unhappiness in the family begins to come to the surface, isolating each family member in a bubble of resentment and loneliness. Then an enigmatic Frenchman arrives on their doorstep. With the wisdom of nature, he slowly begins to heal the past and the present. But who is he? When Miranda reads about his past in a diary she finds in the cottage by the garden, the whole family learns that a garden, like love itself, can restore the human spirit, not just season after season but generation after generation. Wise and winsome, poignant and powerfully moving, The French Gardener is a contemporary story told with an old-fashioned sensibility steeped in the importance of family and the magical power of love.
Well I hope you all have a blessed week,,till next time..

Book Review,,,

I finished The Lace Makers of Glenmara, and loved it,,it reminds me of Chocolat, which I really loved the movie,,this book takes place in Ireland and the surrounding area sounds beautiful..it is a quick read and one that I think you will enjoy..

Synopsis
An enchanting, romantic tale of friendship and love, loss and redemption set in Ireland, in which a young American woman helps a group of lace makers change their lives—and, ultimately, her own.
"You can always start again," Kate Robinson's mother once told her, "all it takes is a new thread." In the wake of heartbreak and loss, the struggling 26-year-old fashion designer flees to Ireland, desperate to break old patterns. Before she knows it she finds herself on the west coast, in the Gaelic village of Glenmara.
Kate quickly develops a bond with members of the local lace making society, including the recently widowed Bernie; Aileen, estranged from her husband and teenage daughter; Moira, caught in an abusive relationship; Oona, bearing the scars of breast cancer; and Colleen, who worries about her fisherman husband, lost at sea. And outside this newfound circle is Sullivan Deane, an enigmatic man trying to overcome tragedy of his own.
Under Glenmara's spell, Kate finds the inspiration that has eluded her, and soon she and the lace makers are helping each other create a line of exquisite lingerie—and face long-denied desires and fears. But not everyone welcomes Kate, and a series of unexpected events soon threatens to unravel everything the women have worked for…
